Drilling Blocked in Alaska’s Chukchi Sea - Polar Bears International
"A native group cheered at the news that a U.S. judge stopped companies from developing oil and gas wells on leases in the Chukchi Sea, home to 10% of the world’s polar bears. The court ruled that the Minerals Management Service failed to analyze the environmental impact of such development. Concerns about the effects of an oil spill on area wildlife, including polar bears, prompted a lawsuit against the drilling."
