Voting for Bears, Volunteering and Supporting the NABC in a Small Town Called Ely, Minnesota!

HELP the North American Bear Center, WRI and
Other Bear Charities Win $250,000!

Ely, Minnesota has been voted the "Coolest Small Town in America" for 2010 by Budget Travel Magazine
and now, July 31, has now officially been named "Lily the Black Bear" Day!!
Vote for the bears and the NABC.

Hi. I am a fan and follower of the North American Bear Center(NABC) and Wildlife Research Institute (WRI) in nearby Ely, Minnesota. Recently Ely, Minnesota won Budget Travel's "Coolest Small Town in America" for 2010 and July 31, has been named offically as "Lily the Bear Day" in Ely. A big part of winning the "Coolest Small Town in America" was due to the motivation of the Lilypals, many of whom will be descending on the same SMALL town in a few weeks for a picnic and to visit with the folks and the bears at The North American Bear Center (NABC). Curiously, the volunteer spirit of the Lilypals did not stop after the end of Budget Travel's contest or the permanent separation of the now-famous mother black bear, Lily and her very young cub, Hope. No, the volunteer spirit is alive and thriving for the North American Bear Center and the Wildlife Research Institute in the small but beautiful town of Ely, Minnesota.

I am just one of the thousands of Lilypals (volunteer). We are currently participating in the worthwhile cause of assisting in these organizations' fundraising efforts. Presently, fans, followers, supporters, business leaders, community members and everyone, have been given the opportunity to vote online (via Facebook) for the NABC and the WRI to receive a substantial charity gift from Chase Community Giving that will be used to expand bear programs, research, education and a facility that will HOPEfully be called, the "Hope Center" and house and rehab orphan bear cubs. In addition, winning this substantial donation of up to $250,000 will allow the NABC to continue their efforts to promote the survival of all of the 8 bear species around the world. Also, we are focused on supporting other bear and environmental charities. The Andean Bear Foundation is dedicated to preventing the extinction of the Andean bear and operates a rehab center in Equador that allows for bear orphans to eventually be released back into the wild.

In the future, the non-profit NABC would like to expand the educational facilities for wildlife and bear educational programs that are geared towards children and offer more assistance to vulnerable orphan bears. Personally, I believe that programs that teach children about the environment and the outdoors helps to develop behaviors and attitudes that make them proactive and valuable citizens in their communities later in life. To climb higher and receive a substantial jump in the funds the organizations receive, we need every supporter and fan to vote online. This is a sensational opportunity for community members and businesses because the center is already and even more so now, fast-becoming a very popular nature and educational attraction by travellers and tourists.

Tourism makes up a substantial portion of northern Minnesota's economy. Supporting our effort can and WILL have a positive effect on the entire community's well-being. Supporting businesses, employees, friends, relatives and everyone should I am sure, understand how this can be a golden opportunity to help the local economy if the NABC wins first place or even places and stays in the top 5. It is a "real" possibility for the NABC to win the top prize, if they can move into the 1st place position, but we need everyone's help. WE cannot do this alone! By voting and supporting the NABC and WRI; this will ultimately ensure a positive impact on the entire area economically and therefore, is a win/win situation for everyone.

The voting process is easy, fast and free but voters must be of age have a Facebook account and "like" the Chase Community Giving page for the duration of the contest and beyond until program administration has concluded. Voting ends at midnight on Monday, 7/12/2010 so please vote ASAP. Please share and distribute this in any form that will help increase voter participation. AGAIN, we cannot do this alone...!!
