Here is a story about someone Lily Fans know and love.
"WEST LIBERTY - In the north woods of Minnesota, a black bear cub is born. It
happens every January, and most of us would not give it a second thought. But
this time thousands of people watched a wild bear give birth via a live

Lily Fans and Voting for Bear Head Lake State Park in Coke Contest!

Bears Head Lake State Park in Minnesota is in the territory of the WRI reseach bears and is located in Ely, Minnesota. These bears are part of multi-generational research study of the behavior of the black bear in this area and is fascilitated by Dr. Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfied. In addiion, the park is located near the Boundary Waters Wilderness and part of some of the most pristine, natural and beautiful water landscapes in the nation. Pease support the Lily Fans who have taken to task to keep this park in the top spot to win the Coca Cola grant so the PARK can use the funds to iimprove facilities and/or needed upgrades and repairs to the park utilities.

It is part of the overall Lily Fan plan to bring attention to the true nature of the black bear as well as, help to put Ely, MN even more on the map and assist the people with different projects including voting to win funds for education. Also, they are helping to raise awareness for the need of protection and conservation of other critically endangered bear species around the world and to support the North American Bear Center when called upon in all their efforts incuding expanding public programs to provide educational modules on bears to schools and libraries around the country and eventually to other nations.

Unfortunately, many might misunderstand our motives which have been openly criticized in print. Our competitors recently called us a "mean bunch" because of our energy to do these things. As a Lily Fan, I can tell you all of us work very hard to support these efforts and create new projects/ideas to recruit "volunteers" and raise support and awareness which are critical to these efforts. We are not just a "typical Facebook fan base" but one that is active to raise awareness and funds for a wildlife non-profit organization while developing wonderful friendships along the way. As far as this contest is concerned, the remarks made by our competitors makes me question their sportsmanship because we overtook them for the top spot almost 4 weeks ago. If you would like more information about bears or Lily Fans or just want to share in what has become a wonderful and "giving" journey- come see us at Lily the Black Bear on Facebook. Also, please volunteer and help us in any one of the many projects the Lily Fans are now engaged in!!! Lastly, if you support the efforts by Lily Fans -- then please copy this event to your wall!

Thank You.

Ely's North American Bear Center

Via article Midwest Weekends

"At the North American Bear Center, visitors meet some big personalities. At the North American Bear Center, everyone loves Lucky. Everyone loves a teddy bear, especially one called Ted.
He's likely the world's largest black bear, at 850 pounds, but he doesn't throw his weight around.
When his fellow bear Honey doesn't want to play, which is often, he merely whines, 'like a foghorn,'' says curator Donna Phelan. And when he wants to make friends, which is all the time, he makes a 'wonderful amiable sound, an umph-umph-umph.''"
